Saddleworth is almost alone in our borough without one of the modern, integrated healthcare centres other areas take for granted. Saddleworth people still have to go to hospital for some services places like Royton and Glodwick now have on their doorsteps. Our doctors provide an excellent service bit Saddleworth’s population is growing and we need more GPs to cut long waits. With the Smithy Lane premises already bursting at the schemes, it is high time Saddleworth caught up with the rest.

“A purpose built health centre will be a massive benefit to the residents of Uppermill.  The current GP practice building is out-dated and cramped and at the top of a steep hill which many less able or elderly people must find hard to access. There is also great difficulty with patient parking at the current practice. It may also pave the way for more clinical services to hold sessions at a new build i.e. District Nurses, Dental, Audiology, Physiotherapy etc. I fully support this petition.” – Uppermill Resident

New health centre definitely required.  So many more people have come to live in Saddleworth villages.  Doctors practices are overwhelmed with patients.  Consequently doctors not enough time to spend with each patient.  Urgent need for a new health facility. – Greenfield Resident
