Councillor Garth Harkness proposed a motion in March around 20MPH schemes and was pleased with the working group exploring options of new potential zones.
Councillor Garth Harkness said “ I am pleased the working group has started to explore new schemes. I have suggested exploration of schemes on Huddersfield Road, Delph and additional 20 MPH scheme , Cooper street in Springhead and to explore around the village on Ripponden Road in Denshaw.”
“ I am keen to get the existing ones sorted and am frustrated with the silence. I have been trying to find out what is happening with existing schemes and which ones have extra calming measures”
The schemes are as follows:
Denshaw- A scheme around the school was put out last July
Uppermill- calming measures were suggested in March
Delph and Dobcross- calming scheme plans on the 20MPH zones were to be prepared.
Diggle- plans for a 20MPH scheme were to be put forward on Huddersfield Road
“It is unclear when Denshaw and Uppermill will be implemented or whether Delph and Dobcross are getting some calming measures in part. We have had no drawings for a scheme for Diggle nearly 12 months after proposing. There has been some suggestions of a scheme. I want it to go further but I would like a cast iron commitment to a Diggle scheme and an answer for next steps for all those currently on the table”.
Councillor Garth Harkness attempted to ask this at the council meeting on Wednesday 10th July however, the meeting was cut short for the football and questions were asked to be put in writing.
Councillor Garth Harkness said “ It is frustrating as I have already asked several times in writing. Hopefully we will get some answers soon.
