Increase in Covid -19 cases in Saddleworth

by Garth Harkness on 25 September, 2020

Message from district team

You’ll be aware that despite the good work everyone is doing to tackle Coronavirus the number of cases is on the rise.  Recently we’ve seen a number of positive tests across Saddleworth – specifically in Austerlands, Delph & Lydgate.  Everyone needs to follow the national and local Coronavirus restrictions to help stop the spread as none of us want to see a family member or friend catching the disease. Council teams have already been out carrying out engagement work in the area and we’ll continue to do so as we try and support as many people as we can.

Do your bit to help the community and remember the following:

  • All pubs, bars and restaurants must close by 10pm and must operate table service only.
  • All taxi passengers must now wear a face covering.
  • If you work in retail or the hospitality industry, such as at bars and restaurants, then you must now wear a face covering at work.
  • You cannot socialise with anyone who does not live in your house (unless they are part of your support bubble).
  • You must avoid using public transport, except for essential travel and if you can work from home you should continue to do so
  • When visiting shops, on public transport or in other enclosed or crowded spaces you should wear a face covering. If you do not, you could face a £200 fine.
  • Wedding ceremonies and receptions are now limited to 15 people. These people should be household members and close family only.
  • You can play a team sport but only where this is formally organised by a sports club or similar organisation – such as at a cricket. Playing football with a load of your mates in the park isn’t allowed.

Continue keeping 2m apart distance from other people and washing your hands.

If you have symptoms, get tested and if the test is positive make sure you and everyone who lives in your house isolates.

The NHS continues to offer testing to anyone so book online at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/ or by calling 119
